Kitchen Extraction Compliance
The kitchen Extraction System presents many hazards when not maintained or cleaned to TR19 Standards, an accumulation of grease or carbon build up, will in turn create a fire hazard.
The Health & Safety Executive and industry and insurance guidance and regulations stipulate that kitchen extract systems should be kept clean to minimise fire and other risks. And the B&ES Association document TR19 ‘Cleanliness of Ventilation Systems’ provides specific guidance on methods of measuring and defining cleanliness as a bench mark for good practice.

​The new Law passed in 2006 ( EC 852-2004 ) stipulates that all Buildings with an Fresh Air Supply or Extraction Systems within the kitchen, walk ways, and all other office areas must be cleaned to a high standard ( BSEN 15780 ), this is an Health and Safety issue and will be enforced by the Health and Safety Executive along with the Environmental Health Agency.
