Qualifications

All our teams are qualified I.A.Q Technicians ( Indoor Air Quality Technicians ) and are trained to BSEN 15780, TR19, and CITB 14208 Ductwork Hygiene Standards.

What are these standards and why are they important to your Company?

  • BSEN 15780 - The European Standard for Ventilation Maintenance, clearly defines vital goals to be achieved by anyone responsible for the ventilation in any building.

  • TR19 - This is the minimum standard required when working with Kitchen Extraction and Ductwork.

  • CITB 14208 - Construction Industry Training Board.

Your Company is responsible for the Health and Safety of their employees, supplying them with fresh clean air whilst in the workplace environment is paramount. Bacteria, Mould and Fungi may be growing within your Ductwork system thus passing this on to your employees via supply ducts.

This can lead to ill health; it is the duty the employer, facilities manager building to prevent this happening.

Remember under the COSHH regulations you are responsible for your employees and clients.

When working a kitchen environment, fresh air supply is not only paramount for the kitchen staff but also the customer within the restaurant. If the air supply within the kitchen is contaminated then this will in turn contaminate the food that is being prepared within that environment. Again a major Health and Safety risk to both staff and customers alike.

Within the kitchen environment and the building in which the restaurant is situated there is a risk of fire, this can be caused by bad extraction and ductwork management. A buildup of grease and carbon within the ductwork, canopy and extractor fan become a real fire hazard, a cleaning schedule must be put in place to ensure that a buildup does not occur, this must be to the minimum of TR19 standards.

Another cynical, however practical way of looking at this, is the ever growing wave of workplace Law suits brought by Employees and the Health and Safety Executive, costing small and large Companies millions in compensation each year.

The qualifications above are respected within the Industry and employers alike, that is why UK Services insist that all our teams of I.A.Q Technicians hold all three qualifications amongst others listed on this page.

You deserve and your employees deserve the best people looking after their clean air supply and extraction systems.

Our slogan at UK services is; clean air because we care.
